Waave Foundation x THE BLANC

Inaugurated by the Waave Foundation, the first-ever New York Women’s Art Month launches with (Sur)real, a juried exhibition curated by Hall W. Rockefeller and Irene Ailin Wang, on view at THE BLANC from March 6 to March 20, 2025. Featuring a dynamic range of works by both emerging and established artists—Kate Donnelly, Emily Wisniewski, Sandra Cavanagh, Michelle Wey, Wendi Men, Katrina Slavik, Hu Junjun, Laurie Simmons, and Nancy Spero—the exhibition delves into the uncanny, the material, and the imaginary as generative sites for rethinking identity and reimagining the Feminine in contemporary art.
Through gestures that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, the artists in (Sur)real confront the historical marginalization of women in art and reclaim spaces of subjectivity, materiality, and cultural memory. The exhibition becomes a temporal bridge where the past and future meet, offering a space to question how we see, what we remember, and where we belong.
