from the unsettled edge
May 10 - May 30 2025
Cheeny Celebrado-Royer

from the unsettled edge presents the solo exhibition of Cheeny Celebrado-Royer, featuring site-specific works that transform the east wall of THE BLANC art space.
In this newly created wall constellation, Celebrado-Royer traces the lingering effects and emotional afterimages of migration and displacement, using a visual language grounded in residue, debris, and cartographic drawing. Her use of recycled and nearby materials makes each part of the piece feel like a time-stamped artifact, inviting the viewer to sit with it before it slips away.
Here, we do not foreground what language articulates, but what slips from its grasp, what fractures and resists capture. We ask: What kinds of expressions are subdued? What personal or collective memories haunt the edges of legibility, lingering not as statements but as residual traces?
The show therefore repurposes the gallery’s blank wall, treating it not as a background that holds the weight of the art object, nor as a canvas for mural representation, but as a terrain, a ruin, or an unstable ground to be mapped and rebuilt.
Rather than offering further representation or closure, Celebrado-Royer’s wall piece suspends the drive to clarify, allowing what remains unspoken to resonate.
This show is also the first chapter of Chiarina Chen’s multipart curatorial series Spectral Witness.
