Pulsing Sound Series -4 Illusion of Self
A concert centered around the idea of self-expression and the creation of identity and style through music

“The Illusion of Self" is a concert centered around the idea of self-expression and the creation of identity and style through music. From Joan Tower's quotes of Igor Stravinsky's Petrushka to Bobby Ge's sincerely jocular Remember to Have Fun, this concert is meant to have a bit of music for everyone. This performance will include works by Joan Tower, Cole Reyes, Julius Eastman, Olga Neuwirth, Bobby Ge, and Euna Joh, whose piece, The Illusion of Self, gives the concert its title.
About Pulsing Sound
Pulsing Sound, presented by THE BLANC and curated by Sofia Ouyang, is a cross-disciplinary concert series exploring sound as a living, spatial, and embodied art form. Bringing together music, movement, image, electronics, film, and multimedia performance, the series traces how sound moves through bodies, materials, histories, and spaces, opening new forms of attention between artists and audiences. Its inaugural season has featured emerging voices alongside acclaimed ensembles, offering immersive and emotionally resonant experiences that reflect the vitality, complexity, and pulse of artistic life today.

Musicians
Telos Consort is a group of creatives reimagining the concert experience through the performance of works by living composers. They seek to create an environment for the avid concertgoer and novice new music listener alike acknowledging the often-exclusionary world of classical music. They program music by some of the most influential voices and voices-to-be of our time and encourage genre inclusivity and the presence of the untraditional.
