The Red Ball
An immersive art project that celebrates the New Year and Valentine’s Day at The Oculus.
Comprising a series of red spheres of varied sizes, this art installation draws on the cultural motif of traditional lanterns and captures the essence of the Lunar New Year. Its unique, circular form is inspired by the rich tapestry of Asian symbolism, encapsulating the concept of 'roundness,' closely associated with 'completeness' and 'unity.' The vibrant hues of red symbolize not only 'joy' and 'good fortune' but also convey undertones of 'love' and 'passion.' Additionally, the radiant and polished materiality adds a nuanced touch of renewal and communal harmony to the overarching spatial narrative. In the spirit and romance of the Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, THE BLANC has curated and presented this installation, honoring Asian traditions and inviting viewers to partake in a shared cultural experience. Serving as both a backdrop for the integral music performance and a standalone masterpiece, the spheres, with their reflective surface, create an interactive encounter that engages viewers in varying perspectives and movements.
